Welcome to Lanco Cares. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Lanco Cares website, platform, and related services (the “Platform”).
By creating an account or using Lanco Cares, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
1. Our Role & Purpose
Lanco Cares exists to support community helping community.
We provide a digital platform where neighbors in Lancaster County may:
• Share material needs
• Privately offer help to one another
• Communicate respectfully and directly
Lanco Cares is a connection platform only.
We do not:
• Provide goods, services, transportation, housing, or financial assistance
• Verify identities, backgrounds, qualifications, or intentions
• Guarantee the accuracy of any posting
• Arrange, supervise, monitor, or participate in exchanges or meetings
• Act as a charity, broker, agent, or representative for any user
All interactions occur directly between users, at their sole discretion and risk.
2. Accounts & Eligibility
2.1 Account Requirement
An account is required to:
• Submit a need
• Offer help
• Use private messaging
This requirement exists to promote safety, accountability, and trust.
2.2 Account Responsibility
You agree to:
• Provide truthful and accurate information
• Maintain the security of your account credentials
• Accept responsibility for all activity conducted through your account
Lanco Cares is not responsible for unauthorized access caused by your failure to safeguard your
credentials.
3. Submitting a Need
When submitting a need, you represent that:
• The information provided is truthful to the best of your knowledge
• The request is for lawful, material assistance only
• You are not requesting money, gift cards, financial payments, or illegal items
All submissions are subject to review before being displayed publicly.
Lanco Cares reserves the right, but not the obligation, to approve, edit, decline, or remove submissions at its discretion.
4. Offering Help & Messaging
4.1 User-to-User Messaging
The Platform includes an internal messaging system allowing registered users to communicate directly.
• Messages are exchanged only between users
• Lanco Cares does not initiate, participate in, or direct conversations
• Users independently decide whether to share personal contact information
4.2 No Supervision or Control
Lanco Cares does not supervise, control, or monitor:
• Communications between users
• Meetings, deliveries, or exchanges
• Outcomes of any interaction
5. In-Person Interactions & Risk Assumption
Any decision to:
• Meet in person
• Exchange goods
• Provide or receive assistance
• Share personal information
is made solely by the users involved.
You acknowledge and agree that:
• In-person interactions carry inherent risks
• Lanco Cares does not screen or verify users
• You assume all risks related to interactions, including but not limited to injury, loss, theft, misrepresentation, or harm Lanco Cares expressly disclaims any duty to protect, warn, investigate, or intervene.
6. Community Conduct
Users agree to act lawfully and respectfully.
Prohibited conduct includes:
• Harassment, threats, or intimidation
• Hate speech or discriminatory behavior
• Fraud or misrepresentation
• Soliciting money or commercial services
• Using the Platform for unlawful purposes
Violations may result in suspension or termination.
7. Content Moderation
To support a respectful environment, Lanco Cares may review content using:
• Human moderation
• Automated tools, including AI-assisted moderation
We reserve the right to remove content but are under no obligation to monitor all activity.
8. No Guarantees / Platform Provided “As-Is”
The Platform is provided “as-is” and “as-available.”
Lanco Cares makes no warranties regarding:
• User behavior
• Accuracy of postings
• Safety of interactions
• Availability of help
Use of the Platform is at your own risk.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lanco Cares shall not be liable for:
• Acts or omissions of users
• Personal injury, loss, or property damage
• Disputes between users
• Failed or incomplete exchanges
• Reliance on user-generated content
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lanco Cares, its owners, affiliates, and operators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from:
• Your use of the Platform
• Your interactions or meetings with other users
• Items exchanged or assistance provided
• Content you submit or share
• Your violation of these Terms
11. Termination
Lanco Cares may suspend or terminate accounts at any time if:
• These Terms are violated
• User conduct poses a safety concern
• The Platform is misused
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
